Do you track the number of visitors who click on your affiliate links? Do you know which affiliate programs make you the more money per visitor? If you are currently not doing this, you may be leaving a lot of money on the table (I should rather say on the Internet). Many of my affiliate marketing students don't have a clue about tracking. They just market their products and that's it.
Today, it's easier to track your affiliate campaigns. As an example, Clickbank recently added their commission tracking feature. In the commission junction affiliate network, you can track as well. Make sure that you understand all the different tracking terms. It's really important to know what visitors are doing on your website. Plus you also need to know how many of your visitors click on your affiliate links.
Another parameter you need to track is how many of your visitors subscribe to your newsletter. You will then need to know how many of your subscribers actually purchase whatever you are promoting. After this, you need to know how many visitors buy directly from your site without subscribing to your newsletter.
You also need to add different tracking id for each of your pages. This is just the beginning, but it is really important that you understand this because you will then be able to set up your advertising budget. When you know how much you need to spend to get a visitor and make a sale, you can start a massive advertising campaign.
If you are not earning a lot of money with affiliate marketing yet, this may be the reason.
